The Creature

As darkness approaches, the creature awakens. Knowing it can not let the boy see him, it carefully makes its way to the edge of the bed. It peers through the small space between the floor and the bottom of the blankets and waits for the sound of steady breathing. The creature freezes in fear when the blankets lift to reveal the pale face of the little boy.

In the Darkness

In the darkness of his room, a little boy closes his eyes to sleep. When a sound escapes from under his bed, his heart begins to pound uncontrollably. Something is there. His imagination starts to take hold and he thinks he hears breathing. Hoping no one is there, he leans over the bed to look. Two eyes stare back.
